Only one word came into my mind after watching Thunderstorm. Brilliant! haha... I was completely blown away by the casts' stupendous performance, esp Fan Yi's role. As most people who know abt this play, everything happened within a single day. Therefore, it was a great challenge for any artiste involved in this play, as the characters' emotions varied between the 2 extremes at the start and at the end.
I was completely swept off my feet when Yeo Yannyann appeared. Her stage presence could be sensed immediately from afar. I would say that her character is one of the most challenging to portray. The series of events, which unfolded as the story progressed, evoked the internal struggle that the character had put up with for the past decades. In the end, the character went kaput. It amazed me at how the artiste was able to portray all these struggles faced by the character vividly.
A few years back, when Thunderstorm was staged in Singapore, this character was played by my ex-drama teacher. However, I gave it a miss as I was too caught up with school work. Surprisingly, this play brought back memories of my drama teacher and I realised how much I really miss her. Although I was very young when under her, she's the only drama teacher that left me the deepest impression amongst all. The amount of dedication and passion she had for drama, earned my respect and adoration. She was also the reason why I'm still in drama. I would have continued drama at PPAS if she didn't leave. If given an opportunity, I would love to learn from her again.
